Peter Jakobsen

As a skilful Adelaide lawyer, Peter has a wealth of experience in many areas of the law but practises primarily in the areas of civil and commercial litigation including employment matters, negligence, defamation, leasing and contractual disputes and debt collection.

Peter is a skilled and clever advocate that brings all of his intelligence and over 30 years of Court room experience to each and every matter to achieve excellent results for his clients.

You will get from Peter:

  • an honest appraisal of the strengths and weaknesses of your case;
  • an estimate of costs and prospects of success;
  • lateral thinking as to the best way to achieve your objectives; and
  • fearless and forceful advocacy on your behalf.

Peter has represented clients in Court cases in numerous jurisdictions since 1983. He has appeared as counsel in a number of civil cases in the Supreme, District, Industrial and Magistrates Courts, the Federal Court of Australia, Administrative Appeals Tribunal, and in the Muirhead Royal Commission. He has instructed in matters before the High Court of Australia and in jury trials in the Supreme and District Courts. For several years before joining Beger & Co he acted as an independent litigation consultant.

Peter spends much of his time resolving litigation on behalf of his clients, believing that the high costs of taking a matter to trial, should be carefully balanced against the potential gains. This involves a broad appreciation of the dynamics of litigation, understanding “commercial realities” and the effective use of alternate dispute resolution where appropriate.

He is a long-suffering supporter and former Board Member of the Glenelg Football Club, which he has represented before the Environmental Resources and Development Court pro bono publico, as well as providing advice on countless legal issues of importance to the Club and its local community. He is a Player Advocate of long standing for the Club.

Whether you are considering taking action to enforce your legal rights or being threatened with a claim, Peter welcomes the opportunity to discuss matters with you.
